Boxing Day comes before Christmas this year with Warrington v Frampton showdown

We look forward to a festive event day packed with action on the pitch and in the ring on December 22

The last Saturday before Christmas is going to be a bumper night for pubs and clubs.

Not only will you enjoy the company of customers fully in the festive spirit but we also have a couple of Christmas crackers to keep them entertained.

First up is the football. This is always a vital time in the Premier League with a calendar of fixtures fuller than even the most crammed Christmas stocking.

On Saturday December 22 at 5.30pm, Cardiff host Manchester United in a game that will see both teams desperate to pick up the points.

Then, just a few hours later, we will bring you a stunning line-up of championship boxing with the festive featherweight showdown between IBF World Champion Josh Warrington and Carl Frampton topping the bill.

Manchester Arena is set to be packed for an event that will be live on BT Sport Box Office and should generate an incredible atmosphere in your own business.

It follows hot on the heels of the unforgettable Deontay Wilder v Tyson Fury fight at the start of the month and caps a memorable year for fight fans.

Warrington won the title on another Fight Night to remember on BT Sport back in May. In front of 20,000 fans at his beloved Elland Road stadium in Leeds he beat reigning champion Lee Selby on points.

Now he is putting his title and his undefeated record on the line against two-weight champion Carl Frampton.

Frampton, the current interim WBO World Featherweight champion, will be stepping into the ring for the first time since his homecoming bout against Luke Jackson at Windsor Park in Belfast.

For many pubs, such as the Cock Tavern in London’s Islington, these double events are great for business.

General manager Carl Hufton said: “It’s really important that we get these double event days in our business… it creates a real buzz and atmosphere.”

He added: “When you have got such a great day with some great football followed by some great boxing you get a sense of the buzz around the building. The staff are on fire, everyone is really up for it.”
