The European Champions Cup returns

Give your rugby fans even more reason to visit, with the return of Europe’s premier club competition

The format may be slightly different, and the action is starting later in the year than usual, but rugby’s European Champions Cup is all set to deliver again.

Europe’s premier club competition gets underway on December 10, giving rugby fans across the country all the more reason to visit their favourite pubs and clubs.

And with home hopes represented by eight teams from the Gallagher Premiership and four more from the Guinness PRO14, there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic.

It all kicks off when Northampton Saints host Racing 92 at Franklin’s Gardens, in a live Friday night game on BT Sport.

And we’ll be bringing you every other clash live – all 71 one of them – right up until the final in Marseille on May 28.

The team that get there will have to take a slightly different path, with the campaign adjusting due to the impact of the pandemic.

The 24 teams will compete in two pools of 12 over four pool stage rounds. The eight highest ranked teams in each pool will qualify for the knockout stages, which will be contested in April and May.

But let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. First of all, let’s take a look at what’s coming up before we say goodbye to 2021.
