Introducing the Women’s Pub Cup

This season we’re launching our first ever tournament for women’s grassroots teams.

It’s been a huge year for women’s football in the UK.

First up, this season the FA Women’s Super League (which you can catch live on BT Sport) went fully professional for the first time.

In June, Phil Neville will lead the national side in France, as they look to a go a couple of steps further than the men managed at the World Cup.

And, undoubtedly most important of all, this year’s Pub Cup will see the launch of the first grassroots competition of its kind for women pub players.

We have spaces for 32 women’s pub teams to take part – that’s twice as many teams as when we launched the Pub Cup in 2017.

You could be in a pub team already, find a pub your team can represent or simply start a new team with friends from your local BT Sport pub.

One team who will be registering to play is Beccles Ladies FC. The team, who play in the Norfolk Women’s & Girls Football League, Division 1, have close links with local pub The Ingate Free House.

In fact, licensee Michelle Payne, received the BT Manager of the Month award – and a visit from England’s most capped player Fara Williams – for the support she has shown to Beccles and the women’s game in general.

It’s great and very progressive that BT is launching this for women’s teams. Our girls will definitely register as it is such a great opportunity for them.”

Michelle added that she has witnessed the growth of the game first hand in the pub.

“We are getting more and more people coming here to watch live women’s football on the TVs. If it keeps like this we’re going to need a bigger pub!”

Teams that register to play in this year’s Pub Cup will have the chance to play at leading stadiums across the country. The Women’s Pub Cup schedule is as follows:
