It’s coming back, it’s coming back…

We reveal the Premier League picks to help you pack the pub at the start of the new season

The Lionesses may have only just returned from their summer heroics, the barbecues are in full swing and there’s plenty left in the cricket season – but football will soon be back.

The Premier League returns next month and so too does our live coverage, with our first set of fixtures featuring all of last season’s top six sides.

We will be with you for your Saturday afternoon sessions, to help get the weekend started.

We’ve got up to 52 live Premier League games for your customers to enjoy this season along with an unparalleled European football line-up.

Here’s what’s coming your way in August and September.

Man City vs Liverpool

Sunday August 4, 3pm

BT Sport 1 HD

Community Shield

What a way to get the ball rolling for the new season. The Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders take on the champions of Europe in this season’s annual curtain-raiser. Could this Wembley clash set the tone for the next 10 months?

West Ham United vs Man City

Saturday August 10, 12.30pm

BT Sport 1 HD

Premier League

The champions start the defence of their Premier League crown in the capital against a West Ham side looking to improve on last season’s tenth place finish.

Liverpool vs Chelsea

Wednesday August 14, 8pm

BT Sport 2 HD

UEFA Super Cup

Frank Lampard could potentially add to the Stamford Bridge silver wear collection in his first few weeks as Chelsea boss. The Europa League champions will be up against a Liverpool side in Istanbul that are not only the champions of Europe but also a club with fond memories of playing in the Turkish capital.

Arsenal vs Burnley

Saturday August 17, 12.30pm

BT Sport 1 HD

Premier League

Arsenal did the double over Burnley last season with Shaun Dyche’s side losing 3-1 at the Emirates, before falling to the same margin on the final day of the campaign at Turf Moor. With many predicting the drop for the Lancastrians this season, Dyche will be desperate to prove the doubters wrong and get early points on the board in North London.

Norwich vs Chelsea

Saturday August 24, 12.30pm

BT Sport 1 HD

Premier League

Premier League newcomers Norwich City surprised pretty much everyone, including their own fans, by winning last year’s Championship. Along the way Frank Lampard’s Derby edged the Canaries 4-3 at Carrow Road in a breathless, topsy-turvy game that saw floodlight failure, a subsequent delay and the Rams nicking all three points with a stoppage time winner. Here’s hoping for a similarly electric encounter, on the pitch at least.

Southampton vs Man Utd

Saturday August 31, 12.30pm

BT Sport 1 HD

Premier League

One of those classic Premier League fixtures that has provided plenty of drama and memorable moments over the years. Here’s to more special ones to entertain your customers.

Liverpool vs Newcastle

Saturday September 14, 12.30pm

BT Sport 1 HD

Premier League

Another fixture that has delivered over the years. Rafa Benitez’s departure from Newcastle means no reunion with his former club this season, and the ongoing turmoil on Tyneside means Jurgen Klopp’s side will be firm favourites to pick up the points at Anfield.

Leicester vs Spurs

Saturday September 21, 12.30pm

BT Sport 1 HD

Premier League

The 2016 champions are many pundits dark horses for a top six spot this season. Spurs will be up there too and hoping to improve on a fourth place Premier League finish and the heart break of being Champions League runners-up, so this should make for entertaining lunchtime viewing.

Sheffield Utd vs Liverpool

Saturday September 28, 12.30pm

BT Sport 1 HD

Premier League

These two last met in the Premier League at Bramall Lane 13 years ago. Robbie Fowler and Rob Hulse found the net in a 1-1 draw – a result that the Blades would almost certainly be happy to repeat.

And there’s more…

We’ve got more European football coming up too with Champions League play-offs on August 20, 21, 27 and 28 and the group stages starting on September 17 and 18. The Europa League group stages start on September 19.

And that’s just the start of it. There is plenty more live football for your customers to enjoy on BT Sport throughout the season, including FA Cup, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Scottish National League, FA Woman’s Super League and the A-League.
