January Blues and El Clasico provide some winter cheer

Rearranged fixtures bolster a big month of football on BT Sport

For ready made fixture and social assets to download and share visit our fixtures & promotions page.

While January is rarely a favourite month for pub and club operators, we’ve got enough football to warm the coldest of nights.

In the first few weeks of the year we’ll be bringing you the champions of England against the champions of Europe, EL Clasico on BT Sport for the first time ever, plus even more Premier League action with a host of rearranged fixtures.

Here’s what’s coming up in the next few weeks.

Premier League

Man City vs Chelsea

Saturday 15th January, 12.30pm

This battle of the Blues sees a repeat of last season’s UEFA Champions League Final. It was Thomas Tuchel’s side who came out on top on that occasion but they’ve struggled to keep pace with the City winning machine in the league in recent weeks. Can they knock the champs off course? Find out in an unmissable Saturday lunchtime encounter.

Watford vs Burnley

Tuesday 18th January, 7.45pm

With Covid playing havoc with the fixture list, we’ve got a lot of catching up to do. We kick off the first of four rearranged Premier League games at Vicarage Road. Both sides are scrapping for survival which will add to the intensity of this classic six-pointer.

Brighton vs Chelsea

Tuesday 18th January, 8pm

Chelsea head from Manchester to Sussex by the sea for a meeting with the Seagulls. This match has been rescheduled from February due to Chelsea’s involvement in the Club World Cup. It will be a second meeting in just a few weeks between the sides after a Danny Welbeck header secured Brighton a point at Stamford Bridge in December.

Leicester vs Spurs

Wednesday 19th January, 7.30pm

While neither of these have quite hit the heights fans may have hoped for at the start of the season, they are well in range of the European places. Injuries and illness have not helped their causes but this is set to be an intriguing midweek match-up.

Brentford vs Man Utd

Wednesday 19th January, 8pm

The Brentford Community Stadium sounds welcoming enough but not everyone has had comfortable visits there – just ask Liverpool and Arsenal. This is another potentially tricky night for Ronaldo & Co as they settle into the Ralf Rangnick era.

Everton vs Aston Villa

Saturday 22nd January, 12.30pm

Everton fans are to be ‘treated’ to the curious sight of their greatest rivals’ 2005 Champions League winning manager and captain in opposite dugouts at Goodison Park. That will of course matter little to fans of either side, who will just be focused on the pitch, the players, and the points.

Spanish Super Cup

Real Madrid vs Barcelona

Wednesday 12th January, 7pm

Atletico vs Athletic Bilbao

Thursday 13th January, 7pm

The Final

Sunday January 16, 7pm

It’s arguably the biggest football rivalry on the planet, and it’s coming live to you via BT Sport.

We’ve got all the games in the new format of the Spanish Super Cup live from Saudi Arabia.

The tournament features the winners and runners-up of La Liga and the Copa del Rey in a knockout competition.

It kicks off with Barca versus Real on Wednesday night and culminates with the first chance of silverware in the calendar year on Sunday.

And there’s plenty more football coming up, including the start of the UEFA Champions League knockouts in February.
