Love football? Focus on February

There’s plenty to screen as the action heats up at home and abroad

For many pubs and bars February is the month of love with Valentine’s Day providing a welcome fillip from the traditionally quieter after Christmas period.

And there is plenty for football romantics to get excited about with some lovely matches spread throughout the month, live on BT Sport.

Here are some of the hottest dates for you to have in your diary.

 

Champions League

It’s back and this time it’s the knockout stages.

Five English teams remain, and they will all hope to progress a little bit further. You can read our Round of 16 preview piece here.

Suffice to say, there are some pretty tidy ties and they are all exclusively live on BT Sport. Here are the first legs involving the Premier League teams.

All matches kick off at 7.45pm

Arsenal and Celtic compete in the Europa League with their first leg ties on Thursday February 15 and 22, respectively.

 

 

 

Premier League

February could be a season-defining month in North London. Spurs face rivals Arsenal in a game that will give many businesses a Saturday lunchtime boost, before they fly off to Italy. The derby is one of many big games coming up.

We have also revealed our picks for March, which, as you can see below, all include teams fighting for the title or a Champions League spot.

FA Cup

The eagle-eyed among you may have noticed a missing fixture weekend in February. This is when the Premier League takes a little break for the FA Cup to come to the forefront. With just 16 teams left and only nine of those potentially from the Premier League more shocks could be on the cards.

Before that there is the small matter of Newport’s trip to Wembley after they earned a replay against Spurs. We’ll be showing it live.

Scotland and Europe

Fancy a romantic European break around Valentine’s Day? Well, come with us and we will take you to some of the finest places on the continent for love, and more importantly, football. In fact, Valentine’s Day itself provides one of the most exciting match-ups of the season in the Champions League.

As well as games from Europe’s two premier cup competitions we will also bring you action from Scotland, Italy, France and Germany. Here’s a little taster.
