Catch the Gallagher Premiership and the European cup competitions on BT Sport
Screening top class rugby union in your pub has become easier than ever with BT Sport. Live games from the newly-named Heineken Champions Cup and the European Challenge Cup will be shown on BT Sport.
All live games from the newly-named Heineken Champions Cup and the European Challenge Cup will be shown exclusively on BT Sport.
This boosts our already powerful pack of rugby which includes all live games from England’s top division, the Gallagher Premiership.
What’s more, this season also sees the launch of a new domestic competition – The Premiership Cup.
The exciting new format will see the 12 top flight teams compete in a group stage, including a Derby Day round, before heading to a knockout stage. It replaces the Anglo-Welsh Cup.
It means that pubs with BT Sport will have access to the top English sides whenever they play in domestic competition or in Europe. That’s well over 140 live games of rugby for you to screen in your business.
And what a season it is likely to be.
Saracens have been the dominant force in recent years. In May they won their third Premiership title in four years. Can Exeter, Wasps, or anyone else tackle their stranglehold on the game?
It wasn’t to be for our domestic sides in Europe last year but they will be more determined than ever to bring the Heineken Champions Cup home. Newcastle will have extra motivation with the final being held at St James Park in their home city in May 11. The Challenge Cup final will be played at the same venue the day before.
The form of players will be even more intriguing with a Rugby World Cup on the horizon.
This could spark interest from your general pub-going sports fans, 30 per cent of which already follow rugby union according to our recent survey of consumers with CGA.
That research also revealed that 76 per cent of rugby fans like to go out of home to watch the action.
This means rugby union will be a great opportunity for your business in what is bound to be a season full of hard-hitting entertainment.
When is it on?
The Premiership season runs from late August through to May. Live matches on Friday nights and Saturday and Sunday afternoons. European action starts in October with games played on Friday nights, plus Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings.
